Swedish Girl On Shakti Mat

This shakti mat is great, it forces you to relax mentally and physically. I recommend it to anyone looking for a simple way to release the stress of your day to day life. Every time I have used it, I have fallen asleep and woke up feeling GREAT.

~~~
I've only had the acupressure mat for a few weeks, but I am using it regularly and found it to really help with relaxation. It does take some getting used to, and still sometimes can be too sharp for me depending on how I lie on it (more intense when on side; more diffused on back). That said, I've fallen asleep on it a couple of times and found it's helped with back and hip pain, too. If you are interested in alternative methods for pain relief or stress reduction, then I'd recommend it. However, it's not like just getting a blissful massage-- it's definitely more like drinking a tea that helps you relax but still has a bitter taste.
"The Shakti Mat has helped me a lot in my sportsmanship and my running. Nowadays I always bring the mat to competitions. The mat is an excellent tool after a hard workout. I use the Shakti Mat and after a few moments of deep breathing I fall alsleep."
~~~

My neighbor suggested my husband and I try this acupressure mat since I have a problem with sleep deprevation and him stress, lack of energy. This mat is simply amazing. After the initial shocks of pain subside, your body goes through a wave of flushing warm heat. It instantly relaxes you. It normally takes me 45 minutes to 1 hour to fall asleep. The second time using the mat I remember laying on it and looking at the clock setting myself mentally for 10 minutes, the last time I looked, I had fallen asleep for over an hour! I since then have recommended it to everyone I know.

~~~
The Shakti Mat is simply amazing! This is the original Swedish acupressure spike mat and I actually bought mine while I was in Sweden last year. I still use it several times a week when feeling stressed or tense at night and most times I even fall asleep on it It's so relaxing you just melt away.
~~~

It really is a wonderful acupressure mat. I use it regularly, with relaxing music, and always feel invigorated afterward. I also take it with me while traveling. 10-15 minutes on my Shakti acupressure mat is so restorative! And as far as it being faddish, I understand what the other reviewer is trying to convey...but if you're into maintaining your health or improving it, I recommend it. I've had mine for nearly a year and my husband and I both use it regularly--mostly on our backs, but sometimes on our feet (after lots of sightseeing!). And I can't say that the Shakti is the main reason for my health or well being, but it feels great and I feel wonderful after using it. Highly recommended.

I lay on this accupressure mat for about half hour several times a week. It hurts a lot the first few times you use it, but you get used to it. It helps relieve my headaches (migraines), back pain and stress.

I haven't used this product in all the ways it can be, mostly use it only for the feet, and tried lying on the back a few times. It feels great, and does seem to release tension in areas. I keep it in my office, and walk on it frequently during the day.

~~~
As a new mom I use this shakti mat daily. It helps me to relax and get the energy to take care of all the things during the day.
~~~

I use the acupressure mat as a shoulder pain relieve and accupressure on the feet.Increase blood surculation feels great. Fast shipment.

~~~
I've had chronic pain since I was a child but was not diagnosed until my mid-twenties as having hypermobility (which caused fibromyalgia). I've found the acupressure shakti mat to be a very helpful pain management solution, particularly since my acupuncture appointments and other alternative means can be quite costly. I've also found it helpful in relieving neck tension and overall stress. While people with no pain or non-chronic pain may have difficulty getting used to the mat and may find it initially uncomfortable, in areas like my back that are very desensitized to pain it took no time at all to get used to it, it actually feels great! I would definitely recommend this product particularly for those who suffer from chronic nagging pain.
~~~

At first it feels extremely painful. though I suspect this appplies only to us unhealthy people who are already suffering from this and that and have intense need of stimulation of the various points. (My 12-year old granddaughter when trying out a Shakti cushion claimed she felt no pain when using it while other members of the family - adults - felt it to be extremely uncomfortable.) However after about ten minutes on the spikey acupressure mat, generally, the pain subsides and one can hardly feel it. In my case, however, when using the mat on the buttocks, firstly, it was more painful than usual, and secondly, the pain at first did not subside, though it does now slightly, though only after a long time.

~~~
My original intention was to buy a Shiatsu neck massager as a Christmas gift for my husband to help relieve his chronic neck and back pain. However, the positive reviews for this product convinced me to change my mind and purchase the Accupressure Shakti Mat instead.
~~~

I'm not saying this shakti mat is a miracle worker, but it definitely has an extremely beneficial effect, and I feel that users should try it out on various parts of the body. I feel that the more health problems one has, the greater will be the benefit. But even if you do not suffer from severe health problems, use of the mat will surely have an immense preventive effect.

~~~
I got this acupressure mat for my husband for his birthday. He has lower back problems and read an article that this would help. He still uses a shirt when he lies on it, and he does like it. His whole back is red after he uses it, but I think it increases circulation thus helping the muscles to relax. Definitely a different experience and if you endure some "pain" it does relax you. Our dog on the other hand stays clear away from it after his paw touched it.
~~~

This acupressure mat product is wonderful. I have had issues with my lower back and legs being very tight. Lying and standing on the mat give me much needed relief. I may order another to take with me when I travel.

~~~
I got this acupressure mat as a Christmas gift (I had it on my wish list). I have only used it three time so far, but I really love it!
~~~

If you are wondering what it would be like to lay on one of these mats, here is my experience. At first, of course, it is painful. There's no way around it. I am a female of average weight, and I imagine that someone who is heavy would feel the pain more intensely. But once I got used to the initial pain, I started to feel a less painful "tingling" sensation, as if the little pressure points were massaging my back a bit. After about five minutes, my back started to feel pleasantly warm. After about seven minutes, I felt as if energy was flowing up and down my whole body, especially my legs (it was an amazing feeling). And after about ten minutes, I was trying mot to fall asleep!

My second experience with this acupressure mat was last night, and I used it for about 30 minutes right before bed. I woke up this morning feeling extremely rested (which is something very new for me). I'm not sure if I can credit my Shakti, but I don't think that it's just a coincidence. I plan to use it again tonight and hope to wake up tomorrow feeling just as rested.

I highly recommend giving this product a try!

This mat is quite is quite a piece of work. The circle pins have like 24 spikes angled off and their is a slew of them all over this mat. The experience with the mat has been prodominately at its best backsided. Laying their on your back (no clothing layer) releases such unusual feeling. The immediate pain / pressure jolt then goes to a release of heat to the good-feeling. This little thing has made such a difference to my tensioned back.

~~~
I bought the mat a few weeks ago and I've been using it since then. It's amazing how just a few minutes on it can take the day's stress off your back! I highly recommend it.
~~~

”Now, I'm off to lay on my acupressure shakti spike mat. Last night I fell asleep on it. How odd is that, to fall asleep on a bunch of plastic spikes. But people, I tell you, that little mat makes my back and whole body feel so much better. Much more limber. It releases tension. And makes me sleep better.
So, let the sleepy Spikey Fairy come and get me... Zzzz.”

~~~
I had hypertension and sleep problem so I am always tired. I place the mat over the foam that came with the shipment and lie on carpet. I do not feel pain but a bit uncomfortable when I first try it. After 15 minutes, I feel something pushing my back which I read from elsewhere it is a good thing. I was going to get up after 30 minutes but I feel asleep for an hour. Went to sit on sofa and feel relaxed after a glass of water.
Tried on bed this morning and it does not work (nothing pushing my back after 15 minutes) due to the softness. For those who aren't sure, please try them on carpet.
~~~

Now, the fault point for me is trying to use it elsewhere (Other major body sections).
I've tried using it for my front (Abs/Chest/Face) - it just hurt the WHOLE time.

~~~
My friends have been recommending this acupressure acu shakti spike mat device thing that Indian Yogis have been using for centuries and I was going to try it but never got around to it. This week when we started the CAD-project, I suddenly got some severe pains in my neck area and lower back. It doesn’t help that I like sleeping on my tummy either. So, after a few days I couldn’t take it anymore and went to get me one of those mats called Shakti Mat. It’s basically an acupressure mat which helps relieve pain in your neck, back and shoulders, for instance. Without question, the shakti mat absolutely helps me relax!"
~~~

I bought this mat back in August. I wanted to wait to write this review in order to see if it was a placebo or not.

I love this mat!!! It is the best way for me to fall asleep. After laying on the mat for a few minutes I begin to feel immediately relaxed and it is very easy for me to fall asleep.

I have also noticed that I no longer have lower back aches. I have also used the mat on my face, on my legs and arms. I've used it to increase blood circulation. This mat has helped significantly. I also lay my head down on it if I have a headache. This mat also helps with that...probably because of the increase in blood flow and it targets trigger points.

~~~
I did not encounter the sequentitial flow of improved feelings as when doing on my back.
I tried throwing on a layer of clothing --> it dilutes it to the point of not having the matt in the first place.
~~~

”... I know, looks fully weird! Apparently not uncomfortable at all, though. My friend had a car accident and swears this thing has changed her life - I'm considering getting one and don't even have a bad back! It's more likely I'll take acupressure more seriously now!

~~~
I have been using the shakti mat every day for the last week and it is quite remarkable at diminishing the pain. The shakti mat is a real godsend. I have days when I can type and days when I cannot turn on the computer at all.
One note of caution is the laying ontop of the acupressure mat - take it easy and no sudden movements during your time on the mat I have a heavy frame, so my body was really pushing down on top of the mat - it left a lot of deep marks afterwards (fortunately no cuts)
~~~

I bought the mat a few weeks ago and I've been using it since then. It's amazing how just a few minutes on it can take the day's stress off your back! I highly recommend it.

~~~
You need to get used to using the acupressure mat, it's uncomfortable at first. Then it does what it's supposed to do, relieve pain and relax the back.
~~~

"I would absolutely recommend people to experience the Shakti Mat. The Shakti Mat is wonderful acupressure tool!! I am so glad I have the Shakti Mat. Thank you!!"

~~~
Ok its really wierd to lie on the spikes and it hurts. I have to wear a thin shirt as shirtless is just too painful. It does improve sleep and relaxation though.
~~~

My husband tried out the mat last night and the headache he had was relieved. I also suffer from neck pain and migraine headaches as well as tendonitis pain in my right shoulder. (Yes, the thought occurred to me that this could well be a Christmas gift for both my husband and myself!) The pain in my shoulder has increased over time to the point of being painful all the way down to my elbow throughout the majority of the day and keeping me awake at night. I laid on the mat for 15 minutes last night, and for the first time in many months I was able to sleep through the night without waking from the pain in my shoulder. I laid on the mat again this morning for nearly half an hour (flat on my back, bare skin) and my entire arm and shoulder has been pain-free all day with no need for over the counter pain relievers. I do have to admit, the points on the acupressure mat against bare skin is not immediately a pleasant sensation, and I find myself readjusting the position of my back several times before the discomfort subsides. However, anything that can work so quickly and easily is worth the minor discomfort for the few first minutes of laying on it until my body relaxes completely and I am reluctant to get up. I can only say--I am AMAZED at the effectiveness of this mat--well worth the price!

I am not awarding this product 5 stars only because the pranamat takes some real "getting used to." Buyer, be aware of this fact. Initially, it can be uncomfortable, to say the least. Indeed, the first time I used it (with my T-shirt on, despite the manufacturer's suggestion that it works best with no clothes between the user and the mat -- Yikes!!), I was left with a large area of red, inflamed indentations across my back. It felt like a bad case of hives. It soon abated, though, and I gingerly decided to give the mat another try the following day. I would strongly suggest users start conservatively. Each person's sensitivity is bound to vary and so is one's tolerance for the initial discomfort. The next time I tried the mat, I found it to be less uncomfortable. Then, subsequently, I did begin to feel true relaxation. No one was more surprised than I, given that inauspicious beginning. I have continued to use this mat with my clothes on, thank you, and have still found it to be effective at both revitalizing and relaxing me. (The duration of time the mat is used determines whether one is energized or relaxed. I was initially dubious about this, but found it to be true to my experience. The first couple of minutes one feels a pleasant tingling sensation, as if mild currents of energy are traveling through the body; after that time, there's a quieting sense. Rather amazing and very pleasant, that.) I have also used the mat as a reflexology tool for my feet -- I find it very effective at energizing me after a long day. I do think it is a very good product, though it is a rather expensive one and does take a bit of getting used to.

The Pranamat Eco is a beautiful product, and does exactly what it claims to do. I have not used an ice pack, heating pad, or pain reliever pill since I got my Pranamat Eco! Whenever I feel a twinge in by back, or I'm just sore and tired, I lay on my Pranamat for anywhere from a few minutes to a half hour, and the pain dissipates. That ache in the lower back after mowing the lawn, gone. That stiff neck from sleeping funny, gone. It even relieves pain from places on your body that were not in contact with the mat. This is the BMW of acupressure mats. The materials are top notch and all organic, construction is solid, and it just plain feels great. Don't hesitate. It may hurt a little at first, but the end results are fantastic.

~~~
I absolutely LOVE this mat. As other reviewers have written, it does take some getting used to....At first I had to use it with some fabric between my back and the mat. After about a month, I no longer need to, and prefer using the mat without it. I actually look forward to using this every day. If you use it for about 5-10 minutes, it feels energizing, but longer than 15-20 minutes, it's relaxing. I often use it during Savasana at the end of my yoga practice.
~~~

I use my Pranamat a few times a week before bed. I place it lengthwise on the bed touching my pillow and lie on it face up for 10-20 minutes. It stings for the first 10 seconds then feels warm. I recommend using it daily for at least 10 minutes at a time for a week before you decide whether you like it--it takes a few days to get used to, then you may be hooked. :)

I usually have tight back muscles and this helps loosen them considerably, even after a hard workout. I also feel mentally relaxed after using my Pranamat. It is well made and well worth the cost.

I highly recommend this for anyone with a tight back or trouble sleeping.

"I am about to turn 40 and decided to change up my skin-care routine with Isabella's help. Since starting just 8 days ago there is a significant difference - several people have noticed already. Who knew 40 could feel this good?"
